    Development of Procedural Guidelines for Designation of Water Quality Management Areas (WQMA), Attainment and Non-Attainment Areas, and WQMA Action Planning PDF Print E-mail
    The technical assistance for the implementation of the Capacity Development Project on Water Quality Management aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Central and Regional Environmental management Bureau (EMB) offices to implement priority actions mandated to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) by the CWA and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). The following are the major priority actions identified: 1) Designation of WQMAs for each pilot region 2) Setting-up of area Governing Boards for the WQMAs and 3) Delineation of Attainment and Non-Attainment Areas within the WQMA. These actions will be facilitated by developing procedural guidelines for designating WQMA and identification of attainment and non-attainment areas, reference manual on WQMA action planning, and procedural guideline for WQMA action planning.

    CEST, Incorporated was responsible for the following activities:

    • Development of procedural guidelines for the designation of Watr Quality Management Areas and procedural guidelines for identification of Attainment Areas and Non-Attainment Areas
    • Development of a reference manual for WQMA Action Planning including LGU compliance planning
    • Formulation of the Procedural Guidelines for WQMA action planning including LGU compliance planning
    • Revised the guidelines in response to the comments raised by the TWG
    • The conduct of consultation meeting and development of training modules and briefing kits
